My team and I's fourth portfolio bootcamp Project🤩😚

SEOing like a boss😂

First thoughts

Wow, we have come this far🥺 we've finally completed four weeks out of the six weeks of SideHustle boot camp and it has been a rollercoaster. From bringing ideas, to meetings, to power problems, network problems, and writer’s block, Omoooo😩 but thankfully we were able to push through with our will, determination, collaboration, and mostly God's help.

Before I go into how this week's task went, I'll like to introduce you to my amazing and active team members. My portfolio Bootcamp Fam😊 (Hashnode still hasn't settled its beef with me, so I can't include pictures yet, but if you want to see their beautiful faces, click the link to our blog) We're a team of ten with eight active members. Meet Boluwatife, Ayobami, Blessing (aka BBSPICE), Zaina, Busayo, Ayodeji (the only guy), Elizabeth (my wonderful assistant), and Oluwanifemi ( the team lead).

Moving on to how the task went😁. We got the task as usual on Sunday and we were to carry out SEO and Content Audit on our blog using seoptimer.com and have an SEO score of 90 by the end of the week.

Gbamm! Finally the SEO. This was Elizabeth's reaction 😂

It was honestly confusing at first because we weren't sure what the seoptimer is about so we had to do our research and come up with ideas. Tasks were distributed among us. Blessing's phone got damaged so she wasn't fully present but we communicated with her through calls(she had to use a torch light phone).

We carried out an audit on our blog and at first, we got a “B+”. The site showed us the strengths and shortcomings of our blog and then showed us how to make the necessary corrections. We had to work on our H1 tags, heading tags distribution, Alt texts, keyword distribution, meta description, and references for the images on our blog. We also needed to improve the awareness of the blog on social media platforms.

The team lead was in charge of the SEO, while some of the members had to work on creating content for the blog. Some were also tasked with promoting the big on social media. As of Saturday, the team lead already made all the necessary corrections to the blog.

We checked the score of our optimized blog and saw “C+”. “ghen ghen,” we thought, “this must be playing,😭 how did we get a lower score when we made the necessary corrections, what a life!😪”.

The site had issues, it wasn't accessing the right page. “Great then, no need to panic”, we said. We tried other SEO tools like Ubersuggest, Semrush, and All in one SEO, but those websites were for the big boys😭 we didn't have the funds to subscribe and we weren't chilling with any big boys 😢.

But thank God for sites like seositecheckup.com😩🥺. I opened my Slack app and saw that Drey (our oga at the top) sent this alternative site for us to audit our site and get the score. I ran our blog on the site and rushed to our group chat to share the good news with my team members. We had an SEO score of 91/100🥺. The joy🥺🥺🥺, we felt super elated we passed another task once again. This week has been fulfilling.

Thank God for his help! We look forward to more collaborations, more hard work, and target passes in this new week.

Thanks for sticking with us so far💕
